The Town of Goshen is centrally located in Orange County, NY, home to a population of just over 14,000 people. Within the town is the Village of Goshen, which serves as the county seat and covers about three square miles of the town’s total 44 square-mile land area.
The first settlement started in the region around 1714. The new town was established in 1789 and named after the biblical Land of Goshen in Egypt. Today the Town of Goshen houses the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, situated some fifty miles northwest of New York City along State Route 17. Racing is still held at the Historic Track, a National Historic Landmark in the village center. Other points of interest in Goshen include the Orange Blossoms monument, the 1841 Courthouse and the Wisner memorial.
